Our
Projects
Too many homeowners see wood rot and think the entire piece needs to be replaced.
We use a two part structural epoxy for our wood rot repairs. Not only does this keep the surrounding wood in place but it often costs a fraction of the cost of replacement. In Charleston where so many old homes were built with hand sawn lumber, it can be difficult if not impossible to find a perfect replacement. This is especially relevant with historic wood windows. Wood windows can be restored to their original look and function without the need for costly replacements that will only fail themselves in a few short years.
Repairing Old and New Homes Since 2019
Myths about replacing windows.
The average cost to replace a window is around $700 according to Angie’s List. If you have a home with 30 windows that would cost $21,000. That’s a lot of money. But by replacing a single pane window with a double pane window you’ll save a lot of money on your electric bill, right? You certainly will but not as much as you think. According to EnergyStar.gov if you own a 1700 square foot home in Charleston you’ll save $319 a year by replacing your single pane windows with double pane windows. That would mean it would take over 65 years to break even!
Now, these new replacement windows only last on average 15 years before needing to be replaced again. As you can see replacement windows are a never ending cycle in the name of energy efficiency.
Your windows have lasted this long, let’s keep them working another 100 years.
